Summer Study Tour 2024 – 17th June
Last week we participated in the first edition of the Summer Study Tour organised by Lilamani de Soysa and Mount St. Mary’s University.
This program offers the students an immersive experience in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital. Lausanne is home to the International Olympic Committee and more than fifty International Sports Federations and organisations.
On the 17th of June we met at the Maison du Sport International, Lausanne, to discuss about governance, sustainability and youth development.
Legacy Groupe, with its mission to share its legacy with the next generations and bring value to the international sports community joined this initiative and participated in the student-hosting events.
Gustavo Prudente, Associate Director of Legacy Groupe, talked about one of his specialities, sustainable communities. Gustavo was part of a panel of great professionals who shared great value and inspired the students in their professional journey.
During the morning the students learnt about Good governance and Sustainability with:
- Michael Gross – General Secretary – The Active Well-being Initiative – (Global active cities – Healthy Campus – Active workplace)
- Sasha Martell – Safeguarding Sports Expert (IOC Certified Safeguarding Officer in Sport).
- Vita Balsyte – OVEP (Olympic Values Education Programme).
- Ramees Basheer – Geneva Business School – Saudi Arabia and mega sporting events & other student perspectives.
And in the afternoon, the participants delved deeper into youth development and governance with:
- Philippe Furrer – Co-Founder BloomUp
- Gustavo Prudente – Sustainable communities – Associate Director of Legacy Groupe
- Dr. Lombe Mwambwa – GO – Global Observatory for Gender Equality & Sport & University of Lausanne – UNIL
- Brontë Goodwin – Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) / Changing the Narrative in Sport
A day from which participants were able to take away valuable insights, as well as meet other professionals and students from the International Sport Community.
